The most excruciating experience of my childhood was the divorce of my parents when I was five-years-old. Divorce in the sixties was uncommon. Completely shattered, I struggled with feelings of isolation and loneliness as our family pioneered the blended family. Who could I turn to with my feelings of anger, dismay and pain?
When my youngest daughter asked me to write memories of my childhood for her children, I wondered how such a book could be written honestly, while preserving the relationships I had built with my parents and siblings. What I discovered surprised me. I realized that what Satan intended for evil in my life, God transformed into something good. The tenderness of God’s guiding hand was always there with me.
It is my prayer that by reading my story, you will find hope and encouragement to navigate whatever life has given you. I pray that you will nurture your family relationships. Most of all, I pray that you will find that God is always good, even when things seem bad.
